South East Region
I am married to Ruth and have three daughters and one grandson. I have worked in Financial Service for the last 38 years.
I have always enjoyed boating and my first experience was when I was invited to join my brother on his Fathers-in-laws’ 27ft sailing boat in a race off the Isle of Wight, although to me, reaching a top speed of 6.5 knots was more like an erosion than a race. I continued my interest in boating when my brother purchased a Westerly 32 sailing boat and I regularly joined him on his trips around the Solent and northern France. I always likened sail boats to playing golf (I enjoy it but not enough to join a club) So in 2009 I bought my first motor boat a 1968 20ft Seamaster Captain which I still own and keep on the river Stour in Kent. I purchased my first Broom in May 2015, a Broom 33 with twin 180hp Mercruiser engines. We had some great times with the Broom 33 including sailing from Ramsgate to Saint-Valery-sur-Somme and then traveling down the rivers and canals to Paris.
In October 2018 I purchased the Broom I now own a Broom 415 named Calico, moored in Ramsgate Kent.
I am very much looking forward to meeting the members and Broom owner in the South East and will be in touch with you all by email in April with some ideas/plans for future social events /cruises / coffee mornings etc
