Miscellaneous Information – Broom 33 1991 “La Strega” – Moored Elm Haven, River Medway

Broom owners since 2000, my wife and I joined BOC at the start of 2005, shortly after its formation. I joined the committee first in 2009 as Press and Publicity Co-ordinator. Standing down from this role a couple of years later, I continued to work with the committee, organising our representation at London Boat Shows until 2018.

In 2010, we moved our Broom 33 from its Medway base to Strijesas in Holland, cruising extensively through Dutch and Belgian waters until 2014 when we relocated to France. Since 2015 we have spent two years cruising from Decize

on the Loire before moving to our current base in St Jean de Losne on the river Saone.

Since retiring in 2009, I have devoted increasing amounts of my time to my boating hobby, keeping up membership of Upper Thames Motor Yacht Club and more recently joining the Little Ship Club (LSC). It was through my continuing interest in sailing (in other people’s boats), that I came to join LSC. I have since discovered that they also have a significant number of motor boaters in their membership, some of them Broom owners, and am now exploring opportunities where the two clubs – BOC and LSC – might work together to the mutual advantage of our members.
