Broom 10/70 Hyperion – Moored Ferry Marina, Horning

I have been involved in boating on the northern broads since 2008, my first experiences being on hire boats until 2013 when Graham and I purchased a Freeman 27 called Wild Rover. We loved it so much and wanted to spend more time on the water with family and friends, so in 2015 we upgraded to our 1985 Broom10-70,Hyperion”. I love being on the boat, the tranquillity and peace of the Broads is very special and provides a welcome weekend relief from a stressful job. We visit most weekends in the season and also try to have one or two longer breaks a year. We have been on “Hyperion” between Christmas and New Year and once became an ice-breaker on Ranworth after an overnight temperature drop to -3!

I currently work for Mars UK and have done since 1989 in various roles in finance, IT systems, process design and end-user system support. I’m a qualified Prince2 Project Manager and the most recent projects and systems I’ve been involved with have been large-scale changes that include system and process improvements to deliver simplification and efficiencies. I am looking forward to bringing these skills to the role of BOC Treasurer.

I am also the independent auditor of the accounts for a local charity, and when I retire in 2024 I hope to be able to dedicate more time to charity work and boating.
