CHAIRMAN’S LETTER OF COMMENDATION
 
It is with great pleasure that I write to inform you of the award of a Chairman’s Letter of Commendation from the Broom Owners Club. This award is presented to members who have enhanced the good name and reputation of the Club and have contributed in a significant way to the enjoyment of the Club by members. It recognises your vital contribution in implementing a new system for accounting and membership, which has made the whole process both more accurate, more efficient and easier to administer.
 
When you took over the role of Treasurer, you were faced not only with an antiquated accounting system, but also with implementing a new subscription fee. Many members had neglected to change their bank instructions to take account of the new, increased rate, or had simply forgotten and had paid at the old rate. Assisted by your husband, Graham, you tackled these problems vigorously, contacting many members personally and succeeded in collecting the outstanding dues. You also implemented a new accounting system which simplified reconciliation and enabled the Club to easily and accurately ascertain membership based on who had paid. Over some years indiscernible errors had accumulated and the exact number of members was not known. The new system allowed the Club to clearly know how many members it has. This information is of course vital, especially as accurate accounting helps to reduce costs.
 
Debbie, this really is a great effort on behalf of the Club, which demonstrates both your impressive competence and your willingness to lend your abilities to the benefit of the Club. It is with very great pleasure and delight that I award this Chairman’s Letter of Commendation to you.
