Dear Chris and Maggie,
CHAIRMAN’S  COMMENDATION
 
It is with great pleasure that I write to award you with the Broom Owners Club Chairman’s Commendation, for the assistance you have given to members experiencing their first trip to sea. The award is made consequent upon your nomination for the Martin Broom Memorial Trophy, where the Judges were so impressed with your endeavours that they determined to nominate you for this Chairman’s Award.
 
A major aim of the Broom Owners Club is to enhance member’s enjoyment of their Broom boats, and your leadership in taking a flotilla of boats, including owners going to sea for the first time, across the North Sea to The Netherlands, provides an excellent example of the Club achieving this aim. When the suggestion of the Naarden Meet was first made, many members expressed an interest in joining in, but some where apprehensive about making the trip across the North Sea, having not been to sea before. The help that you gave, and the confidence you instilled in those crews, enabled them to make the trip and enjoy the rewards going to sea bring. You repeated this for the second, latest, Naarden meet, encouraging more members to go to sea and use their Broom boats to their full extent.
 
Chris and Maggie, your willingness to share your expertise has contributed towards the success of the Club and is a fine example of the friendship and help that BOC members can provide for each other. The award of this Chairman’s Commendation is in recognition of your contributions to the success of the Broom Owners Club and the enhancement of enjoyment of their boats, by members. Thank you so much, and very many congratulations on this Award.
