Despite the Covid Roadmap showing a route out of lock-down, planning for Club events continues to be fraught with uncertainty. But, in the confident hope that Club boating events will soon be possible, here is the first Newsletter that I sent out to members in the South Coast and South West Regions:
South Coast Region Newsletter 31 March 2021
I hope this finds you all well and looking forward to the boating season, as and when things start!! To that effect I would just like to inform you of dates to put in your diary so far. I had planned to continue our Zoom meets for the 1st weekend of every month 'till we are back on our boats. However, I have realised that Easter would likely mean not many of you would be available so, the:
Next South Coast Zoom meet is going to be on Saturday, April 17th, at 7pm
2021 PLANNED EVENTS
Currently there are two definite events in the South Coast diary:
1) ISLAND HARBOUR RALLY 2021
FRIDAY 13th AUGUST TO MONDAY 16th AUGUST ( 3 nights )
(Friday 13th August High Water Folly: 15.51 BST)
This is just an early reminder regarding the annual Island Harbour Rally.
Peter Upcher, who is organising the event, writes:
I have pre-booked 14 berths for the 13th, 14th and 15th August. It is clear that marinas, including Island Harbour, are rapidly taking bookings, so I suggest that, if you are attending and wish to book dates either side of those I have reserved, you contact the Island Harbour marina early, stating you are with the BOC rally. They will then berth you near to the rally. You will also need to advise me (Peter Upcher) closer to the time, so I can mark you down for any events that will be set up that weekend. The Island Harbour telephone number is 01983 539994.
More details of the Rally will be sent out nearer the time.
This annual gathering on the Island has long been a well- attended event and has previously included a BBQ, a Sunday evening meal and a “fun sports” challenge.(if anyone has some suggestions for a “fun sport event” that we can have that would be great.
Anton Bates has graciously booked our year end “Laying up “ supper for Saturday 6th November 2021, at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club. Times to be confirmed nearer the date.
My thanks to the BOC members who have offered to organise these events. I look forward to hearing from any other South Coast members who have ideas for other activities and are willing to be involved in their planning.
