Sun and fun on the Isle of Wight
Nine boats with 26 members and friends travelled to Island Harbour on the Isle of Wight for the annual July Rally. The weather and sea conditions were kind- well, most of the time!
On Friday evening we all gathered on the green for a "welccome" drinks reception.
Saturday afternoon, with the sun still shining, the BBQ was lit and we enjoyed a peaceful few hours together.
On Sunday morning we were joined by members of the Island Harbour Yacht club for the "fun sports event" Games were arranged ladies v men and we did a Round Robin of these: Throwing the horseshoe; Boules; Lassoing the mooring pin; Wellie throwing and Bat and Ball skills. Scores were reported to the umpire, Frank Hawkins who kept a careful eye on the proceedings. The ladies team emerged triumphant and were awarded the challenge cup. The mens' team received a smaller version as a reminder of their weaker skills! Some Individuals were also given prizes for their prowess in various games.
On Sunday evening we gathered in the Breeze restaurant for an end-of rally meal. To see more pictures go to Facebook and click on photos then album.
South Coast members enjoy Bembridge Harbour
Four boats with 11 members and friends came to a mid-week rally at Bembridge Harbour on the Isle of Wight on 7th - 10th June.
The weather was perfect and during the meet we enjoyed a pontoon drinks reception, a BBQ and a meal at the Baywatch on the Beach restaurant. There was also plenty of time to walk and explore the unspoilt area around the harbour. I've put an album of pictures on BOC Facebook. Island Harbour Rally
Over the long weekend of 17th to 20th July, 10 boats with 30 members and friends attended a rally at Island Harbour, Isle of Wight. Over the past few years, this has become a very popular annual event.
On Friday evening, we sheltered from the increasingly strong winds for a "welcome" drinks party and to toast the boating skills and determination of those who had travelled from as far afield as Weymouth and Brighton.

South Coast Region Celebrates the Start of the Season
On Saturday 21st March, 24 South Coast members met for a supper at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club to celebrate the start of the 2015 boating season. This was a chance to renew friendships and to welcome several members who have recently joined BOC or moved to the South Coast from other regions. Special thanks go to Kath and John Adcock who helped to organise this event.
As well as discussions about future rallies, I was able to tell members the good news that Broom Boat Ltd have appointed James Dickens of James Dickens Marine Ltd based in Hythe Village Marina, as the South Coast Dealer. James is already well known to many of the BOC members and we look forward to meeting with him in the near future.
