20 Boats at Beccles August Bank Holiday
20 boats were in place in time for the Saturday BBQ which started at 4pm. Unfortuately the rain began at 8 so we all managed to get inside tented city and enjoy a fairly raucous evening. The next morning we sailed under the low road bridge in a local ferry and an assortment of dinghies, several of which broke down, up river to the Gelderston Lock pub for lunch. In the evening 41 people sat down to dinner at the Waveney Hotel and this was followed by an after dinner speaker, the Operations Manager of the Lowestoft lifeboat. The collection box raised £88.98 for RNLI. A great time superbly organised by Jane Neale. Is 20 boats a record?
Also do please come to the AGM weekend at Bisham Abbey 16th/18th October and the next Eastern Region event will be the Laying Up Supper 14th November at RNSYC.

Broom BBQ Saturday 4th July.
For once the weather co-operated and the whole day and evening were hot and sunny but with a nice cooling wind. 66 people turned up on the island and were treated to excellent food cooked by chef Paul Pardon and drinks served by Mark and his team. A singer provided discreet background music. Fantastic event and great hospitality as usual by Brooms. More photos on Facebook.
A number of people like the idea of a cruise to London next year. I am sure this will be discussed at Beccles but there will a get together in the Winter to progress the matter.
Eastern Region Reaches Southwold
Eastern Region eventually got to Southwold on 6th June after three previous cancelled attempts last year. Six boats-Yorkshire Belle II, Gentle One, Ocean Belle, Ikon, Second Chance and Salamanda- made it in not ideal conditions and had a great time.

Beccles Weekend 29/30th August
It is planned to have a get together at Beccles over the bank holiday weekend as follows-
Saturday 29th a DIY BBQ-bring your own BBQs and food-at the yacht station late afternoon/evening.
Sunday 30th a trip up river to Gelderston in our own dinghies-lifejackets to be worn-for lunchtime drinks in the pub, followed after our return by an evening meal in a local restaurant.
As you may have heard the Wells cruise was cancelled due to weather but may be rescheduled for July. The Southwold cruise is still on at the time of writing and there will be a BBQ at Brooms 4th July, details to follow.
Can I also remind you that there is an active BOC Facebook group which I find very useful for sending out information and in particular for posting photos of every visit and event. Another way to keep up with what the club is doing.
