Eastern Region Dinner and Update

If you haven't already, and intend coming to the Dinner on 16th April, please would you order ASAP. As of today we are up to 30 people. I have got now a guest speaker coming from Caister Coast Watch to talk about their role and the use of channel 65. He will also be interested in recruiting volunteers if any local members are willing.

The Norwich walk on 20th March was a very successful event with 20 people taking part. Lots of thanks to Carole and Keith Rowe for organising it. A report is on the website.

The Wells Cruise 20th/23rd May so far has no takers and may be postponed or cancelled. Contact Robert Middleton for further information. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The Broom Boats Cruise in Company is still 16th/20th June. Please contact Paul Pardon to confirm if you have already booked or for further details if you haven't. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Broom BBQ Saturday 9th July.

Yorkshire Belle II and Pelican Buoy still intend cruising to London around 23rd July till 4th August with a couple of members based further South joining in. Let us know if interested in coming too.

The Beccles BBQ will take place on Saturday 27th August followed by a dinner at Waveney House on the Sunday. I'm sure there will be other activities but as it is a busy time and side on moorings are limited please let Jane Neale know straight away if you want to come. Some boats will inevitably have to moor stern on. Further details nearer the time. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Jane has very kindly agreed to run this event again and has booked moorings which will be allocated on a first come first served basis. I am sure this will be a popular event again.

Eastern Region Walk March 20th

March 2016 Walk around Norwich with Carole & Keith Rowe

20 members gathered for an enjoyable sedate walk around old & new Norwich. Stopping for lunch at an old coaching inn followed by the continuation of the walk with tea & cakes in the delightful Cathedral Refectory which included a fun quiz of the day with the joint winners of:" Resolution", "Gentle One" & "Yorkshire Bell 11".
Places of interest: Riverside walk, Cow Tower, Adam & Eve  PH. (Oldest in Norwich) , Quay Side, Maids Head Hotel (Lunch Stop) , Elm Hill, The Monastery, St Andrews plain, Bridewell Alley, Bedford Street, The Lanes, City Hall, Market Place, The Forum, Royal Arcade, Castle Gardens, Tombland, Cathedral & the Cloisters, from here we continued the walk though the Close to the starting place of the railway station. A great event and many thanks to Carole and Keith for organising this. Worth repeating next year with a different route.

Fitting Out Supper 16th April and general update

Our Fitting Out Supper will again coincide with the Broom Boat Show on 16th April. BOC will have a stand at the show with several Committee Members present including our Chairman. There will be lots to see during the day including a total restoration of Jenny Wren, a 26ft wooden motor cruiser, to launch the new Heritage division of Broom Boats.

The dinner will be at Coldham Hall, menu attached, 7 for 7.30, and I have reserved all the moorings, first come first served. Last year we easily got 12 boats in. I suggest getting there early if you want a particular space. A water taxi for foot passengers will be provided by Brooms. Please send your orders and deposits direct to the restaurant by Friday 8th April.

I am still hoping to get a guest speaker as this seemed to go down well at the last two dinners and our Chairman Gill Oldham will update us all on general club progress. In view of the success of the two previous occasions I am hoping for a good turn out and it will be a great opportunity to catch up with friends and discuss plans for the forthcoming season.

As the boat show is of national interest I would like to extend this invitation to all club members who happen to be in the area.

Leaving Wells on the 23rd 08.45,  Haven Bridge 13.15.

Inevitably some will drop out. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

It would be good if members from Eastern Region and also South Eastern Region who are based down there join in with us at some point. Again let Paul know.

Very few people have shown any interest in this to date. Members based in the South of our region and other regions may like to join in. Please say. Suggested details were published in my 8th Feb email.

To be confirmed.

Eastern Region Final Update 2015

The group known as The Intrepids managed to cruise round to the the Northern rivers last week despite warnings about high water levels. YB II and Gentle One made it to Acle Bridge where Isabella disguised as a hire boat was waiting for us. We spent a night there then the next one at Ranworth where four other members joined us by car for dinner in the pub. Thursday YB II and G1 returned South.

Saturday night YB II and Black Diamond met at Brammerton for a charity race evening and dinner, joined by two other members by car. A great evening.

The next Intrepid meet up will be 14th December onwards, visiting Somerleyton and Beccles if anyone would like to join us by boat or by car. After that YB II and G1 will be at RNYSC for New Year and a few days after. I believe one member is intent on spending New Year's Eve at Southwold!

Finally I would like to wish you a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
