On Saturday 10th October, more than 45 members  and potential members gathered for a Central and North East Region "Get-together" at Newark Marina. On arrival, members were offered a  welcoming cup of coffee, a chance to renew frienndships and to catch up on news.

Gill Oldham, Chairman of the BOC, opened formal proceedings by expressing the thanks of all those present to James Wilkinson of Newark Marina for his generosity in providing not only the venue, but a magnificent buffet lunch, wine and soft drinks. Gill continued by bringing members up-to-date with a summary of developments both within the Club and at the Broom Boats Ltd. factory.  Andrew Holmes was then on hand to share his experiences of co-ordinating a full programme of activities in the adjacent Eastern Region. Following this, members took the opportunity to discuss with nominee Central and North East Region Co-ordinator Peter Bentley, ideas and suggestions about how the Region might develop over the coming years. There  was certainly much for everyone to consider over the  ensuing, leisurely lunch, with the last guests finally departing sometime after 4.00 p.m.!

This was an enjoyable and productive event, and one that bodes well for the development of this geographically large Region.
