The Committee recently held a meeting to identify ways of keeping the club active and interesting for members during the current restrictive lock-down period. One of the suggestions, which has been taken up for immediate implementation, is to offer a Chairman’s commendation to identify and thank any member who has done something of note or interest for the Club during this period. The award is aimed at stimulating club interest during the present restrained times, providing some good news and have immediate effect. It is not intended as a substitute for the Martin Broom Memorial Trophy, which will continue to be awarded annually to a deserving member.

The award is effective immediately. Any member may propose a recipient, by sending their nomination to the Chairman. The proposal will then be circulated to the committee for its consideration. The Chairman will write a letter of commendation to successful nominees, send it to the recipient after previously informing them of the award, and then have the award publicised on the Club Website page, FaceBook Page and the subsequent issue of Sweeping Statements.  The Chairman is pleased to announce that the very first recipient was approved by the committee at the meeting, and an announcement will shortly be made.
